Seven semi-finalists remain in
contention for
BH-BL superintendent position
Second round of interviews
starts Feb. 6
BURNT HILLS: Following the first
round of interviews, members of the Burnt
Hills-Ballston Lake Board of Education
have now selected seven semi-finalists, who will
advance to interview round number two in the search
for the district's next superintendent of schools.
Earlier in January, school board
members reviewed the applications of all 29 men and
women who asked to be considered as the district's
next leader. They selected what they felt were the
top 15 candidates for interviews, from which seven
have now been identified as semi-finalists.
Community and staff
representatives involved
In interview round number two from
February 6 - 8, these semi-finalists will be
interviewed by each of three teams, each with 14-15
representatives from the district's various
stakeholder groups including staff and non-staff
members. (For details, see the
December 1 press release soliciting volunteers
for these teams.)
Board of Education members will
then use input from the stakeholder teams to
identify the finalists, who will be interviewed
again by the board in March.
"The board wanted to select a group
of candidates from different backgrounds and
different size districts to provide the stakeholder
representatives with a variety of candidates to
interview," says Capital Region BOCES superintendent
Dr. Charles Dedrick, who is facilitating the search
process for BH-BL.
The search process remains on
schedule and focused on input provided by the
community last fall, says Board of Education member
John Blowers. "Our decision-making has been
guided by the attributes that the community told us
were important in the next superintendent, like a
balance between educational vision and business
acumen," he says.
The board expects to announce the
name of the winning candidate at their meeting on
April 3.
