BH-BL School Board Approves
Contract with CSEA members
BURNT HILLS: The Burnt
Hills-Ballston Lake Board of Education ratified
negotiated agreements with the BH-BL Civil Service
Employees Association at its January 26 meeting.
CSEA members voted earlier to ratify the agreement.
The CSEA contract covers a
four-year period from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2013.
It provides for salary schedule improvements of 2.0
percent each year.
Other changes in the contract
include a number of instances where language was
clarified to ensure that terms and standards could
be applied uniformly across the district.
The CSEA agreement covers 267
full-time and part-time clerical, food service,
teacher aide, teacher assistant, bus driver, bus
mechanic, health, custodial and maintenance staff.
Overall costs for the new agreement will increase by
an average of 3.0 percent each year.
Noting the uncertainty of today’s
economy, superintendent Jim Schultz called the
agreement “a fair and reasonable compromise that
will help the district plan and anticipate costs
four years into the future while also helping
supervisors apply standards uniformly on a daily
basis.”
Negotiating on behalf of the school
district were Robert Van Vranken, Jacqueline St.
Onge, and Amy Baluch. Mike Campon, Janet Townsend,
Marty Pangburn, Karen Neander, Shari August, Bob
Killeen and Renee Aunchman negotiated on behalf of
CSEA.
