Congratulations to the O'Rourke Future City team for taking second place out of 25 schools at the recent regional finals. Out of the five categories, the team took home the title to three of them! The team won Best Research Essay, Best Model, and Best Presentation. They also took home the specialty award for Best Complete Street Design.
Future City advisors Katie Duell and Nick Morocco explain that the students on the team worked extremely hard. They attended a summer camp in July (hosted at O'Rourke) and worked tirelessly from September through January to complete the five requirements.
This year's engineering problem to solve was Urban Agriculture: How to feed a city with at least one protein and one vegetable.
"A special thanks goes out to Jen Wiederhold and Erik LeClair who were the kids' engineer mentors and who helped make BH-BL's success possible," adds Duell.
