kids reading the book wonder

Fifth-graders preparing for premiere of "Wonder"

Pashley fifth-graders use every spare moment (yes, even in costume on Halloween) to read the book "Wonder" which is about a boy with a facial deformity who is attending a mainstream school for the first time.

"The book has so many lessons on accepting differences, kindness, and bullying. It is made up of sections told from the points of view of the different characters in the story. The students love the book," explained fifth-grade teacher Carrie Roberts who has been reading it with her classes for the past four year.

The book has been made into a major motion picture and all BH-BL fifth grade students re reading it and will participate in an educational field trip to attend the movie's premier.

Discussions and review after the movie will surely be centered around the question we all ask when a book is made into a movie: Is the book better than the movie or the movie better than the book? Have fun fifth graders!
