District leaders are looking for five BH-BL residents to serve alongside administrators, faculty, staff members, and PTA representatives on the 2018 Bond Referendum Committee.
The committee will be responsible for evaluating the projects proposed by an internal group (Critical Renovations Needs & Initiatives Committee), prioritizing the identified projects, and making recommendations to the Board of Education. Committee members will also be asked to identify projects up to a specific dollar amount (set by the Board) while taking into consideration the priorities and input from the Critical Renovations Needs & Initiatives Committee, program needs (i.e., instruction, student activities), state aid eligibility, state mandates, and urgency needs.
Every five to six years since 1978, the district puts forth a bond project that addresses renovation, construction, and maintenance needs districtwide in an effort to ensure that BH-BL school facilities remain safe, in good working condition, and able to meet the learning needs of our students.
“This process has proven to be a cost-effective way to address instructional support and infrastructure needs, as well as protect the community’s long-term investment in school facilities,” says Assistant Superintendent for Support Services Christopher Abdoo.
If you are interested in applying to become a member of the 2018 Bond Referendum Committee please submit a letter by Dec. 30, 2017 to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patrick McGrath, BH-BL CSD, PO Box 1389, Burnt Hills, NY 12027. In the letter please explain why you think you’d be a valuable addition to this committee. Please include in the letter your mailing address, phone number, and email address. (Please note: only BH-BL residents can apply to be on the committee.) Applicants will be notified about their application prior to the first meeting.
Meetings will generally be held every other week on Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. (tentative) from January through June of 2018. The first meeting is Monday, January 8 at BH-BL High School.
