High School Senior Represents BH-BL at Hispanic Youth Leadership Convention

Amelia Warren demonstrates her debate skills to NYS Assembly Members

BH-BL High School senior Amelia Warren was selected to represent the school community at the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PR/HYLI) convention. This organization provides Hispanic students across New York state with hands-on legislative experience, fostering their critical thinking, writing, public speaking, and leadership skills.

Warren was among 250 students from seven delegations that gathered in Albany for an enriching experience that included team-building activities, a Mock Assembly session in the NYS Assembly Chamber, a student recognition dinner and awards ceremony, and a variety of workshops on the theme: Perseverance and the Power of Democracy.

At the convention, Warren was selected to meet with NYS Assembly Members to discuss her PR/HYLI experience, gain insights into legislative work, and advocate for the bill debated in the Mock Assembly.
