O’Rourke Middle School’s Drama Club is proud to bring you Newsies! This musical is based on the true story of the 1899 newsboys strike in New York
City, where a group of young street vendors, called “newsies,” band together to protest against unfair price increases on newspapers by powerful publishing giants like Joseph Pulitzer, ultimately leading them to organize a strike to fight for better working conditions. The story centers around charismatic leader Jack Kelly and his ragtag group of newsies as they struggle against powerful forces to achieve justice.
This family-friendly show includes more than 100 students working hard on and off the stage.
