UPDATED at 11:26 am
After diligently searching each BH-BL school and finding no evidence to support the email threat, Saratoga County law enforcement has officially cleared the district and we’ve lifted the hold-in-place. All students and staff will resume a regular school day and move throughout the building.
Every school day our security protocols are strictly enforced and we ensure that our safety procedures are being closely followed. Today’s statewide “swatting” email (a term used to describe sending/placing a “hoax email/call” to schools that is threatening in nature) was a reminder as to why conducting school safety drills are so important. Please know that our students were respectful and responsible today as law enforcement searched the buildings and a safety drill was carried out.
We thank our local law enforcement for their quick response to today’s situation and their continued partnership with the district.
If you or your child have any concerns and would like to speak to a counselor, please contact your child’s school principal.
UPDATED at 10:30 am
Out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement are currently at BH-BL campuses working with our administrators and our security team to methodically search all five of our schools. Students remain in a hold-in-place and instruction is being carried out as usual. We are following all of the standard protocols as a result of this widespread issue which is affecting many districts in the region.
We will continue to keep you updated.
This morning around 9:30 am, the district received an email threat stating bombs have been placed in schools throughout the state. BH-BL and other school district leaders, who received the same email, have contacted law enforcement and they are investigating this matter. The threat was a broad statement with questionable credibility.
The district is currently conducting a hold-in-place procedure, which means students and staff remain in their classrooms while district leaders work with law enforcement to further investigate the threat.
As a reminder, our district always operates in a lock out state. This means that all doors are locked during the course of the school day to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
We remain vigilant as the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We will continue to provide you updated information as it becomes available.
