Stevens Elementary School student council members participated in a service project to raise funds for the construction of a water well overseas.
The students’ hard work has paid off–literally! They were able to raise nearly $1,650 through the Gallons of Change fundraiser. They will be using the money to fund the construction of a water well in West Bengal, India.
Through this project, the students learned about third-world countries and their different needs from basics such as easier access to clean water near or in remote villages to medical needs. They also learned how philanthropic efforts by individuals and groups, such as their Student Council, actually make a huge difference in quality of lives of people living in underprivileged villages.
If you’d like to assist the student council, donation are still being accepted.
